Hey you there, wait up!
Was just going in for a very short nap.
Are you the portal operator?
No, I’m the manager of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. What does it look like? Of course I’m the portal operator. Do you see any other soul near this portal?
Can you be a little more polite, perhaps? I’ve had a long journey, and have a herculean mission to look forward to. I can do with a smile.
Oh I’m sorry, have had such a rough going myself. Record number of transitions through this portal on my beat. Had to process each one of them. To top it all, one of them had second thoughts about going in, and broke down. I had to have him sent back to where he came from.
How did you do that?
Oh, just reprogrammed the portal. Caused a bit of a log-jam. First this fellow transited back. Then I re-reprogrammed the portal for transitions to Earth. By then there were five entities waiting to be processed. Was not a problem for them, though. Most of the souls I meet here are very evolved. Nobody’s lost their cool, except this one, who broke down. His daughter was sick. He wasn’t convinced anymore that he could leave her in that condition and continue towards his mission.
I’m actually quite glad he went back. A ruthless planet like Earth doesn’t deserve so many sacrifices.
You need to see the broader picture. You’re pretty good at your job though, aren’t you?
That’s why I’m here. Software, hardware, grid-mechanics, transitioning….all a piece of cake for me. I breathe the stuff.
So all the transitions on your beat, have they been to Earth?
Mostly. There were a couple of mining specialists headed on an exploratory mission elsewhere, but otherwise its all been Earth transitioners.
What’s the name of this portal? Is it G48?
It’s called Gate (4,0,3,6,8) to be exact, but everyone calls it G48 in short. Its specifically designed for entry into Earth and Earth-like vibrations.
Do you get lonely sometimes?
How could I? People like you keep coming my way. So full of knowledge, questions, perspectives. People like to catch a bit of relaxation here before the transition. It’s like a last pit-stop before their mammoth tasks. They talk. Tell me their stories. Sometimes we share a cup of tea, or a piece of cake together. This beat’s been different. Lot’s of rush. The next ones are due. You ready?
Right, let’s get on with it. Ready when you are.
